YOUR ALASKA TOUR by John Williams

Give the Alaska travelers something they could not experience on their own

The experience

Your Alaska Tour is born out of a lifetime of experience leading outdoor trips in Alaska. As a guide for more than 20 years, I have had the unique reward of traveling to nearly every corner of Alaska’s amazing natural landscape and experiencing what is truly the Last Frontier through the reactions of hundreds of visitors from America and all over the world.  Over the course of leading numerous visitors through varied adventures to every part of Alaska’s magnificent and uniquely distinct landscapes, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand what works best and what resonates most clearly for those seeking the wild, natural heart of Alaska.

Learning from the guests

From backcountry excursions to hotel based itineraries, I’ve seen every concept of what constitutes the ideal Alaskan trip. I have worked with some of the best outfits in Alaska and I have had the opportunity to see some clever ideas in practice and I have come away with an understanding of what makes a trip not just a week or two away from home but truly the experience of a lifetime. As an enthusiastic outdoorsman I have used my personal time to explore further off the beaten path, always questioning how I could bring something new to the group experience. Organizing private trips for friends and family opened my eyes to simple adjustments I could make to the standard path that could create a more unique, individual experience and  open up  a whole new world of possibilities.

Putting the ideal into practice

Guiding for great outfits I have had the opportunity of working alongside the best guides in Alaska. One of the best pieces of advice I ever received regarding small group guiding was to give the visitor something they could not do on their own. Simple advice, it might seem, but in a time when the internet can bring a world of information to anyone’s fingertips I think it is more important than ever to remember. Give the Alaskan traveler something they could not experience on their own is the maxim I repeat to myself everyday.
It is also the reason I decided to launch Your Alaska Tour. Beginning with carefully crafted itineraries that make the most of every day I’ve designed these trips to showcase the best of Alaska, including the well-known and must-see destinations like Denali National Park and Seward but also adding the harder to reach destinations accessible only by ferry or plane, like Kodiak Island and Cordova. While you can fly to Alaska and rent a car, or an RV even, and drive the road system to the well known sights, I’ve designed trips that include places a bit beyond the beaten path where you can see a richer, more natural vision of the Last Frontier.

Our passion is your advantage

Beyond the creative itineraries we present here, travelling with Your Alaska Tour means, you will experience the journey accompanied by a passionate Alaskan, with information and anecdotes that bring the landscape to life.
With a thoughtful mix of camping and indoor accommodations, you’ll eat camp cooked meals you never imagined possible alternating with nights in Alaska’s better restaurants and you’ll never be far from the true wilderness without sacrificing your comfort level.
You’ll be accompanied by professional guides committed to bear safety and zero impact wilderness travel.  You’ll be free from the hassle of driving  and you’ll find you spend less time in the vehicle and more in the land you came to see, hiking, rafting, kayaking, biking.
You’ll find we stay longer in the places we visit than others, because we believe Your Alaska Tour should be about being there and not endlessly getting somewhere. Finally, we bring you to the destinations beyond the reach of cars because Alaska is a big, beautiful wilderness and Your Alaska Tour shouldn’t end with road.
